October 2011 Blog Hop: Holiday Hoopla

Welcome to the SUStars Holiday Hoopla Blog Hop!  The hop begins at 10AM EST on Saturday, October 22 and runs through the weekend.  We've got some fabulous projects to show off using products from Stampin' Up!'s Holiday Mini Catalog.  You might of came from Janice's site, Stamping with Janice, I happen to be stop number 3 on this blog hop of 13 stampers from  Su-Stars.

I am sorry, with this knee surgery I have just not been online or doing that many cards of late...it is easier to do MDS but I did not have any new stuff from the holiday catty for MDS.  So after the birthday party today for myself and the boys (nephews). And after I got little Robert to sleep, I finally went in and got a card done.  I like this one as it could be a simple card for a birthday, thanksgiving, fall season, or just a friendship card.

Stamped Birthday Card without a Ink Pad

Yes, you heard right, a stamped card without using a ink pad....we will make a temporary pad out of wax paper but then I am getting ahead of myself.......here is the card first.....

Now this card is for two challenges today....first for City Crafter Week 70 Scrap Happy....all of the pieces used was scraps (my scraps has grown with all the swaps I did this summer)...even the punched out flowers was already punched out and just waiting to be used.  The second challenge was one of colors thru ColourQ cQc#98 using Soft Suede, Island Indigo, *Bermuda Bay*, Lucky Limade, and White.  Bermuda Bay is a discontinued color so I used Tempting Turquoise and it is really close color...Bermuda Bay has a little more green in it. So I used Tempting Turquoise more in the background of the card, and less shows on the front of it.  I will list the supplies and then I will tell ya all how I did the stamped image.

Wax Paper

I love using the aqua painters and the reinkers...first the punched out doily flower pieces, I got them wet and then used the aqua painter to add ink here and there to them, I like to start with the lightest color and just work my way thru the colors.  Set them aside to dry or use the heat tool on them...don't let them blow away....next I took the wax paper and just added the left over ink to the surface of the wax paper...just colors here and there....I had never done this before I just did not know how it would look....applied the stamp to the wax paper and then to the piece of Whisper White cardstock...it looked great...but it was just too white white so with the left over ink on the wax paper, added it to the sides of the stamped image...add a bit more water if needed on the edge to make the color move....

Did you notice I said to use clear block F for the large background....that is because I made this stamp into a clear stamp using the new Clear-Mount Cling Foam, page 205...it was easy to use and I got extra Clear Mount Stamp Cases, same page, to put the stamp in.  I plan on changing over some of my wood stamps using this great stuff......Oh and I also started using the new Clear Block Cleaning Cloth and it really helps with the clinging of the stamps.  All are found on the same page of 205.

VC Rocks July Blog Hop Anything but a Card

I love this new stamp set.....Faith in Nature...nice to stamp with or watercolor with ink or markers. And I love using my Big Shot to emboss....part of the challenge with PPA100 to use your favorite technique.

Simply Soft Card *****NEW CATALOG*****

New Catty new Catty.....I just love it when we get new stuff....Well as we wait for the new stuff to come, I am stamping my way thru the 2011-2012 catalog right now from front to back of all the clear stamp sets and as I can I will go back and do some of the wooden sets too.  In this card I have used the new hostess set Simply Soft and a older wooden stamp Elegant Thank You....but did you know that Stampin Up now sells a new item to make your wooden stamps to clear....I do have it on order so I will tell ya about that when it comes.

One note on this card...next time I would stamp the Thank you with a darker color of ink, it looked great before the embossing but after embossing it needs a little darker...but it still is a great card. I love using these embossing folders and there is some new ones coming.......
